Displaced earth: Climate refugees in the Philippines
In the 3rd quarter of 2009, two strong typhoons ravaged through the central and northern provinces of the Philippines. Almost a hundred people died and thousands of people displaced due to the damage caused by massive flooding and landslides.
After the tragedy the bigger question was posted as the places where earth is more fragile has been marked and to some it is the only place that they can call home. The people who have been displaced by nature’s wrath have been plucked from their very homes and is in disarray on where to go. In the 2010, at least a million of the 90 million Filipinos have been refugees in their own land due to drastic change in climate.
