All about my Mother-Dhaka, Bangladesh

When I started this project on middle class family, lot of questions were on my mind.
How do we define “Middle Class”?
How will I decide which class I belong to?
Or, how societies define class?

As my mother believes she belongs to middle class family, I decided to take pictures of her. My mother is a housewife.
Everyday she is doing almost the same thing……………….

Taking care of the family is the most important job for her.
Cooking to keep family members well fed and happy.
Praying to Allah for the family's wellbeing.

Going out to maintain social duties.
Reading the newspaper is her only pass time, which too is a duty, to keep herself updated.
These duties are what defines and bounds her life.
Our society has defined this role for middle class family women.

I am trying to constantly question myself by simply documenting the broken fragments of her life, which might seem completely disconnected. But I hope that in time I will be able to piece together this wonderful jigsaw puzzle, called life.

To me it is my mother's life, which I am trying to connect to.
For my mother it is all about meeting expectations of the family and society.
